  • The Mighty Five

    Janelle Jennings-Alexander

Paperback (Independently published, Aug. 6, 2019)
The Raleigh Green Book Story Project is an Immersive Learning project completed at William Peace University. This project was designed to help residents of Raleigh, NC share stories about their experiences living during the Jim Crow era in the city. This volume involved participants from William Peace University as researchers, interviewers and storytellers and students from the Powell Elementary Center for Play and Ingenuity as illustrators. Using a diverse group of stakeholders to produce these works, these books helped all of the students involved to learn about and contextualize Raleigh’s diverse history. Adding these stories to the body of work that exists about this time period functions as a reparation to an incomplete history of this city and this era in America’s past.
